Why blue buckets ?
We did a quick survey and decided that in most homes buckets are our primary water management 'tool'. Try it yourself - walk around at home and list all the ways you use a common old bucket. It may not be blue, but it's still part of how we move water around, store it, dispose of it etc.
So, RiverSmart's Blue Bucket campaign is designed to get us all to think about saving water so we take pressure off our overstretched rivers.
If we each save at least a bucket a day, it will make a huge difference to the health of our rivers, their precious wildlife, how we all get to enjoy our waterways, and to the long-term sustainability of Australia's rural enterprises.
Being more efficient with water is something we can all do, whether it's in our homes, schools, businesses or farms. So get behind the blue bucket campaign.
RiverSmart's blue bucket campaign®
RiverSmart trademarked it's blue bucket concept in January of 2009 (BEWARE of imitations...RiverSmart thought of this first !) and since then we've been busy handing out buckets at a number of community events.

So far, thanks to assistance from Mitre 10, we've managed to give away more than 3,000 buckets, with another 2,000 or so ready to go over the coming weeks. Watch this space for your chance to get hold of one of our buckets full of helpful tips on how you can become a RiverSmart household, school or business.

Make a donation to our 'Blue Bucket Fund'
RiverSmart has now established a Blue Bucket Fund and is ready to receive donations. As of 16 December 2009 any donations to our Fund are tax deductible.
